do something todayInvest in yourself

No-one else will give you the time to invest in yourself, YOU need to create it.  Committing to join like minded people on an event like a workshop, retreat or training course gives you the permission to take that time (and creates a bit of accountability so you actually do it!).

So, what are you going to invest in?  Take a look at the events below to choose the one that is right for you….

Leadership Resilience – seminar series

I am partnering with The Keil Centre run a seminar series on leadership resilience and mindfulness. Four morning seminars will be hosted at The Keil Centre offices in Edinburgh’s West End:

The Mindful Leader – January 2020

Mindfulness is a state of mind and an approach to life and work. At the heart of it is focus and presence.  This session will introduce you to the seminar series and the steps you can take towards being more focused and present as a leader and in all aspects of your life.

The Resilient Leader: part 1 – February 2020

Resilience is a quality of both strong individual leaders as well as teams and organisations.  In this session, we will discuss how individual leaders can build their personal resilience habits as well as develop resilience in those around them.

The Resilient Leader: part 2 – March 2020

In the second seminar, we look at how the pressure of leadership and management can impact on individual leaders and their teams, exploring how leaders can avoid common pitfalls associated with high pressure and stressful situations at work.

Conscious Leadership – April 2020

This final session will create the space for leaders to reflect on the series as a whole, to gain clarity and a new perspective on how they are showing up in their organisation and for them to recognise how they can take responsibility for creating an environment in which they and others can thrive.

Join us to start your day with inspiring discussion, practical tips and valuable headspace, all of which will set you up for a calmer, more productive day.

Conscious Leadership workshops

These workshops are an invitation to business owners and leaders who have a sense that there is a healthier, happier and more sustainable way to be in business.  The intention for the workshop is to create the space for leaders to gain clarity and a new perspective on how they are showing up in their business. It can feel lonely and, at times, overwhelming running your own business or being at the helm of someone else’s.  So having the opportunity to come together, to debate, discuss, learn from and listen to each other is incredibly valuable.

Introduction to Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a state of mind, an approach to life and an antidote to the busy-ness of life.  It helps us to navigate  life with a calmness and sense of confidence and it helps build our resilience, our ability to bounce back from the challenges and difficulties that arise in daily life and at work.

Put simply, mindfulness is about paying attention to our experience.  It’s about being fully present with whatever we are doing and whomever we are with.  When we practice mindfulness we develop the ability to manage our attention, be less distracted and be better able to focus our energy where it will help us be most effective.

For many people, mindfulness helps them feel more calm and less stressed.  It helps them relax and sleep better and it also helps them be less hard on themselves (and others).  What comes from that is an increase in feelings of kindness, happiness and joy in their lives and relationships.  Often people say it helps them be more focused and productive at work and feel less pressure from time and deadlines.

This 2 hour introductory workshop will give you a taste of what mindfulness is and how it can benefit you.

We will explore mindfulness through short guided meditation practices followed by discussion.  There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions as well as the space to simply enjoy some time for yourself without needing to say anything!

Foundations of Mindfulness (short course)

Mindfulness is a way of approaching everything we do in life.  It is a state of mind which is calmer, less distracted, more focused and kinder (both towards ourselves and others).  Many of us are living increasingly busy lives with lots of demands on our time, energy and attention and it can be difficult to keep up and stay balanced.  Mindfulness is the antidote to this modern way of living and we develop it through practice.

Perhaps you have been to a mindfulness taster session or have read a bit about it but haven’t found a way to make it “stick” and so haven’t experienced the full benefit for yourself yet.

Perhaps you haven’t explored mindfulness at all but have heard that it can help with; relaxation, stress management, sleeping, staying focused, being more productive, managing emotions and feeling happier and more content and so you simply want to explore it for yourself.

Either way, this short series of workshops will help you.

Over 4 weeks (one 2 hour session per week) you will gain a clear understand of what mindfulness is and how you can bring it into all aspects of your life and work.  Together we will explore a variety of mindfulness practices and meditations all of which you will be able to continue to practice at home with the help of guided audio downloads.

If you aren’t sure about committing to a 4 week course why not come on one of my 2 hour Introduction to Mindfulness sessions first to get a taste of what the course will be like.  Or maybe you’d rather come along for a day to immerse yourself in mindfulness on one of my Days of Mindfulness retreats.  Take a look at the other events I’m running for upcoming dates (scroll down this page).  Or get in touch if you’re not sure which option is right for you.

When? Beginning in January 2020 – get in touch if you are interested in finding out more
Where? The Yoga Shed, Crieff, Perthshire
How much? £96 which includes guided audio practices.

Mindfulness Practice Sessions

Practicing mindfulness doesn’t have to be done alone.  In fact, it can be hugely beneficial to practice with other people which is why I am offering this practice group to anyone who has some experience of mindfulness.

You may have been practicing mindfulness for many years and have a well established practice so would like to come along to explore new practices or simply meet up with other practitioners in your local area.  Perhaps your mindfulness practice has fallen by the way-side recently and you’d like to re-connect with it.  Or maybe you have done a small amount of mindfulness training and would like to develop a regular practice so that you can continue to experience the benefits.

Wherever you are on your mindfulness journey you are very welcome to join me for this evening of practice.

There is a suggested £10 donation for the group which you can bring along with you that evening.

If you have not yet explored mindfulness but would like to know more why not come along to one of my Introduction to Mindfulness sessions or a Day of Mindfulness?

When? First Thursday of every month, 7-9pm.
Where?  The Yoga ShedCrieff, Perthshire
How much? £10 per meet up

If you are interested in joining us drop me an email to let me know – susan@sgdevelopmentsolutions.com.

A Day of Mindfulness retreat

This one day retreat is an opportunity for you to press pause and reconnect.

Most of us live very busy lives and often don’t prioritise time for ourselves to re-balance and recharge.  This one day mindfulness retreat offers you the time and space to do just that.

It is open to people who are new to mindfulness, people who have some experience of mindfulness but don’t find much time to practice as well as people who have a regular practice and feel they’d like to give themselves permission to focus on their practice for a day.

Our day will start at 10am with introductions and an overview of the day.  We will then move into meditation practices including Settling the Mind, Body Scan and Memories of Kindness.  There will be breaks for tea and coffee (which are provided) and time for lunch (which you can bring with you).  We will do some gentle mindful movement outdoors, weather permitting and continue with more sitting meditations in the afternoon.  Our day will finish at 4pm.

The benefits people experience from coming on a retreat like this is a sense of calm and groundedness.  There is often a feeling of relaxation or renewed energy.

You will leave the day with 2 guided practices which you can use to continue your mindfulness practice after the retreat day.
